The Lunation Jewellery Tribe has long been fascinated by Native American culture, and have great respect for its indigenous traditions and deeply spiritual beliefs. As true lovers of nature, ancient Native Americans believed in the Power of the World, using the phases of the moon to guide them with planting, hunting and harvesting. The time-honoured names given to each month's Full Moon - a practice used by many other ancient cultures - are based upon happenings in nature during the seasons.
Taking inspiration from these names and the reasons behind them, we have created The Namesakes - a limited collection of monthly keepsake necklaces, symbolising traditional Full Moon names with meaningful, beautiful pieces.
To celebrate the launch of Lunation Jewellery on 30th October 2020, we began our collection with the Hunter's Moon Necklace, in honour of the Hunter's Moon on 31st October. This necklace features a striking and symbolic arrowhead pendant, cut from clear quartz.
The arrowhead represents this moon's association with the hunt after the harvest; this particularly bright moon giving hunters the opportunity to hunt at night. This moon has historically been an important feast day amongst many Native American tribes, while the arrowhead symbol has longed been used to signify alertness - also worn as a symbol of courage and strength.
