Amazonite is named after the beautiful Amazon River of South America, and its lush green surroundings. Despite its namesake, it's unlikely that this is where amazonite as we know it today was discovered - certain green stones were found along this terrain, but this particular minty turquoise crystal is not currently found here. We believe that this adds to its mystery - a captivating crystal that has also earned itself the name Stone of Truth.
Amazonite has been used in talismanic jewellery for healing and prosperity since ancient times, and is believed to have decorated the shields of Amazonian warrior tribes. It is said to empower us to discover our own integrity and truths; to express our thoughts freely, communicating them in a clear and loving way. It's believed to have a powerful filtering action - both physically, in terms of pollutants, and spiritually, in terms of negative energy.
This peaceful stone is showcased in our Wolf Moon Necklace, pictured above - this emblematic wolf tooth pendant also being an amulet historically worn for courage and wisdom. We have also selected some gorgeous, naturally striped amazonite stones for our Summer Eventide Collection - our Hazy Moon Necklace, pictured here, paints a natural picture of a hazy horizon, adorned with a sterling silver crescent moon.
Amazonite is thought to open both the throat and heart chakras, so wearing it as a necklace is the perfect placement to benefit from these properties. Regardless of these characteristics, amazonite simply makes a stunning statement piece!
